Early Days:
Born in Kolkata, India, Nandana is from the Bengali Hindu family and the daughter of the famed Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna economist Amartya Sen and Nabanita Dev Sen, who is the Padma Shri winner who is the highly renowned author in the contemporary Bengali literature.
Sen’s early life and her growing years were spent in various countries of the world such as all over Europe, India and the U.S.
Education:
Since she was fond of literature, Nandana Sen got enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to study drama and then she learnt drama comprehensively by studying at the world famed drama institute Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Sen later graduated in Literature from one of the top universities of the world Harvard University.
Cinematic Career:
The ravishingly sizzling Nandana Sen stepped into the filmdom by making her debut with the flick, ‘The Doll’. Her first debut vehicle in Bollywood was the Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black in which she essayed the role of a 17-year-old sister of Rani. Her character was applauded by the viewers and the critics. Later she did other Bollywood films doing leading roles – ‘Tango Charlie’ and ‘My Wife’s Murder’.
In Tango Charlie, she shared the screen space with the likes of Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Bobby Deol. She landed into the controversies due to her bold scenes in the flick as she flaunted her back.
The movie, ‘My Wife’s Murder’ offered her the opportunity to work with Anil Kapoor, Boman Irani and Suchitra Krishnamurthy. Both of these movies did well with the audiences.
Later flicks, she did on Hindi abode were ‘Strangers’, ‘Marigold’, ‘Rang Rasiya’, ‘The Forest’ and ‘Prince’. In the midst, she also dolled up other languages’ projects.
The British television series, ‘Sharpe’ added more sparkles to her popularity graph in the entertainment abode. The episode ‘Sharpe’s Peril’ featured her in the pivotal role.
In her last Hindi release, ‘Prince’, which was released in 2010, Nandana was simply loved to be watched by her fans. He most glamorous role was liked. The film featured the international look that allured the audiences and the critics alike. The movie unfortunately could not do good business but Sen’s role was applauded. She did the character of Serena opposite the leading guy of the film Vivek Oberoi. The movie was a lavish project produced by Tips Music Industries. It was a high-budgeted movie.
Controversies:
Nandana Sen has been under controversies since the beginning of her career. Her dare to bare attitude puts her into controversies and limelight all the time. Her flaunting of deep cleavage, her skin-show and her lip-locks – all make her popular and put her on the headlines.
In Tango Charlie, Sen showed off her nude back that fetched huge controversies and the flick ‘Rang Rasiya’ in which she essayed the role of a painter’s muse, she went nude. This fueled endless controversies and these days the protests again emerged when Rang Rasiya was screened at 17th Kolkata Film Festival.  But she says that she does not care about these controversies, as she is proud of what she played in Rang Rasiya.
